Narrative

It Affects Us All In The End brings focus to border systems that often go unnoticed by those who are not forced to engage with it by happenstance of their place of birth. In Europe, immigration policies and border systems have become harsher and more discriminatory in recent years. Highlighted here is the role of the Greek Coastguard in upholding violent EU border policies. Research examined the history of postcards and their use in the early 20th century to uphold certain ideologies, such as the scènes et types colonial postcards. But conversely, postcards could also be used to carry anti-colonial messages, often subtly, for only the target audience to understand. Borders are often not even a physical barrier, but a social construct upheld by bureaucratic systems. Challenging the idea of borders is a necessary step to dismantling them. A world without borders exists if we choose to believe it.
