Guilhermo Hitos

Artworks

Narrative

Exploring the kite’s forms, construction, and cultural meaning, the artist treats it as both object and symbol—revisiting personal memories and past experiences. In drawings and a site-specific sculpture inspired by the Cody kite, he uses fabric, hooks, and ropes to express autonomy and individuality.

Biography

Multidisciplinary artist based in Lisbon.
Born in 2001, São Paulo, Brazil.

Guilhermo moved to Lisbon in 2017 to study Cinema and Video at Escola Artística António Arroio and completed a BA in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Lisbon, in 2024. His work spans photography, sculpture, painting, installation, and video, forming an amalgam of artistic approaches.

Among all his experiments, his work consolidates itself as a self-reflection on time and image, memory and immigration, evoking questions about the mutability of the sculptural body, the imagetic nature of the world, and its extension beyond the material dimension. Throughout his practice, there is an incessant search for an intimate material and visual language that seeks to highlight the poetics of things.
