Mafalda Riobom

Enveloped in a universe both real and imaginary—composed of clues, words, and emotions—the artist gathers fleeting moments in an attempt to hold onto the ephemeral. Working between drawing and painting, she creates dream-like scenarios that explore nature, language, colour, and form.
Biography
Mafalda Riobom is a multidisciplinary artist from Lisbon, Portugal.
She graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. Her
artistic practice is enveloped in a universe that is both imaginary and real, made up of clues,
objects, words, situations and emotions. The artist collects these elements in an attempt to
stop time and freeze what is fleeting. There is a constant search for images, sometimes
challenging their limits: drawing about drawing or image about image. In this zigzag of
gestures, a game of meanings and symbols is established, playing and opening up new
possibilities in reality. This takes shape above all through drawing, but also through
sculpture, installation, video and performance.
